Eric Bibb, one of the stars of Transatlantic Sessions Five and the first out-and-out bluesman we have featured, grew up in a musical household. One night when he was eleven years old, he went downstairs in his pyjamas to say hello to a rather special guitar-playing visitor and to tell him that he too, young Eric, played guitar. The visitor had a word of advice: Keep it simple. That visitor was Bob Dylan. Learning the same lesson from his years of experience, Sessions director Mike Alexander also keeps things simple, allowing no technical tricks nor fancy movements to come between the viewer/listener and the music.
