Short wave reception a bit anemic.
This unit has all the features I wanted and a few more. I cannot give it a full five stars but it is close. The problem is the Short Wave reception which is the reason I bought it. The included external antenna largely compensates for that if it is arrayed properly. In all fairness it would seem that short wave radio broadcasts to North America are not as numerous as they once were. That is based on a little research. Possibly someone else has done some research on this? 20 years ago I had a radio shack digital short wave that was much better in this regard. On the other hand there does not seem to be any deficiency with the other radio functions and weather band works very well. The included rechargeable battery gives ample life for my needs. Works well great radio battery life is very long

By far the best emergency radio we've owned. Don't rely on cheap crank/solar/weather radios when used mainly for emergencies. This well built radio has up to date technology as well such as Bluetooth for your I phone and playback from a micro SD. Reception is excellent and sound quality is very good.
