    Old but still a decent camera

    I have three of these plus lots of 5700 accessories - too much to upgrade right now to something newer. Not one of Nikon's best but inexpensive and small enough to carry around. Most phones take better pictures but my phone is an iPhone 6 and it won't pass pictures or anything else back to my Windows PC easily. CF memory chips are inexpensive and hold lots of pictures that my PC can access without any problems. 5 megapixels is not very dense in this day and age but the picture quality is still very good for my needs.

    Optics produce color bar lines

    Seller was not clear about what was wrong with the camera. Everything works except the most important element the optics. It cannot take a picture but turns the visual picture into bar lines. The colored bar lines are interesting but no optical picture. Cord missing on battery charger.

    Nikon Coolpix 5700

    This camera came on the market in 2002 and had a lot of great features for it's time period. It was one of the first bridge cameras between compact and SLR and shoots photos in RAW, TIFF and JPEG. The camera shoots excellent macros and the auto function shoots perfect every time. Even by today's features and standards it still is a very viable camera to use for everyday shooting.

    Beginner

    I'm just beginning to learn and with this camera it's easy. The one thing is I didn't know that the only CF card it was able to use was a 2 GB I bought a 4GB but my bro made it work. And it's great.
