The original surfaces of this 1862 $20 double eagle gold coin shows noticeable spots of wear on the highest points of the design, with some luster still present in the protected areas, below the strike points, however, a significant amount of the original mint luster is gone. This is consistent with a coin that has been in circulation but shows only light wear and retains a good amount of its original shine. The coin displays good eye appeal despite signs of wear and diminished luster as there are very few contact marks or other blemishes on the Obverse or Reverse of the coin outside of the high points.”
