    It is a great book to have for any DM or player, to the understand the 5e rules & other cool stuff found within it!

    You will find the Oathbreaker sub-class or alternate version of an anti-paladin. This is the same class that the actor Joe Manganiello plays in the D&D Tomb of Annihilation stream lining blogs. As like any other previous editions of the DMG, you will get to review the descriptions of magical items and their uses. However, you will not find any armor or weapons above "+3." The classifications have changed though. For example, coming across a defender weapon or a rod of resurrection are considered legendary, requiring attunement. Also find an index of Monsters of Challenge Rating from 0 to 30th. This is indeed a very interesting book for both DMs and players alike or for individuals who just want to catch up and read what 5e rules are all about and how it defers from the previous editions.

    Mild fun, hopefully useful to new DMs

    Somewhat well organized for the starting DM, particularly the parts on campaign & adventure creation. Probably not as good at giving practical guidance. Still, every new DM will probably be better off for having a copy of this. Experienced DMs will NOT need this. That said, it covers enough ground that even experienced DMs will find a few items that can shore up their practices. And the suggestions for the outer planes are amusing. Long time gamers will also be amused by the return of the (much improved) random dungeon elements tables. And, naturally, it's intriguing to see how the instruction to new DMs has evolved over the years. Alas, there is not the demand that one educate oneself, as there was with the original Gygax tome. Probably too much space (again) is devoted to magic ...
