This is a review of the first generation device. The strangest thing about this device was how to set it up. You have to shine the smart phone's flashing screen into the clear Wink window during installation. It is an optical set-up process. You might think it is an RF set up but that's not right. I wonder if the bad reviews I've seen on this product (no longer in manufacture) isn't because of that fact.
Otherwise the directions and the devices (I have two) work fine. Sometimes the robots I set up don't act the way I thought I had intended but the bottom line is - I can sense my patio closet's temperature and get a warning notice if the closet's temperature falls below 33F. You need to keep the power supply connected to use all the features of the device.
I think these were $99 new. I've been lucky to get them for a lot less. You see prices over $100 for new ones. I'd be patient. I don't know why Wink does not have a product to fill this temperature sensor niche. Get one if you can.
