Reviews
"Jinich...is nothing if not thorough in making Mexican cuisine accessible to northern chefs. Her cookbook brims with careful instructions and loads of advice on selecting ingredients to create the extraordinary spectrum of flavors offered by classic Mexican cooking." -- Booklist, For Pati Jinich:"It seems as if Pati Jinich could . . . hold her own against an outsize caricature like Paula Deen . . . she is a walking antidepressant. Why someone hasn't given her a TV show before now is a mystery, but the moment has arrived." - Washington Post "Pati's enthusiasm for her subject is infectious, and when she speaks, you are entranced by her warm smile and engaging, funny personality. She is a consummate professional whose recipes are well researched, tested, and easy-to-understand." - DC Event Junkie "When Jinich takes the stage it is to applause more warm and familiar than a television personality might normally receive. Many of the evening's attendees are longtime fans and have been showing up at her events for five straight years . With diners still quelling the flames of the enchiladas with sips of Rioja (a Spanish wine), the high-spirited Jinich launches into a dissection of the dish, complete with a history lesson explaining, with an informative yet conversational flair that reveals her academic background, the importance of hearty, simple food to the people of Guanajuato." - StarNewsOnline.com For Pati's Mexican Table: - Amazon Top 20 Best of the Year Cookbooks - New York Times Best in Books - Washington Post Best Cookbooks of the Year - Serious Eats Favorite Cookbooks of 2013"The book is filled with bright, fresh flavors and dishes that are wonderful in their simplicity." - Publishers Weekly "Pati Jinich has created the most delicious guidebook to the magnificent market-driven home cooking of Mexico that I've ever seen. This book makes it simple to create fresh and tasty Mexican food and inspires me to make soft fresh tortillas, pickle my own jalapeos, and delight in Chicken Tinga with my family. This book will become a family heirloom at my house forever." - Mario Batali "Pati Jinich is a breath of fresh air in the food world. She's warm, beyond smart, and she's funny and a generous and gifted cook. She knows Mexican food as her heritage and as a scholar, but knows, too, the realities of being a working mother. She never gave up on the tastes she grew up with, but she's got an uncanny way of streamlining how she recreates them. This is one of those books you'll be cooking and learning from for a long time." - Lynne Rossetto Kasper, host of The Splendid Table from American Public Media "Pati's Mexican Table is a gem of a book that guides us through the bold flavors of Mexican cookery. Pati has such skill in delivering recipes full of detail and complexity with a nurturing cadence. This is a staple for every cookbook shelf!" - Hugh Acheson, author of A New Turn in the South

Synopsis
Intriguing recipes for everyday meals from the host of the PBS series Pati's Mexican Table On her PBS TV series, now in its fifth season, as well as in frequent appearances on shows like The Chew , Pati Jinich, a busy mother of three, has shown a flair for making Mexican cooking irresistibly accessible. In Mexican Today , she shares easy, generous dishes, both traditional ones and her own new spins. Some are regional recipes she has recovered from the past and updated, like Miners' Enchiladas with fresh vegetables and cheese or Drunken Rice with Chicken and Chorizo, a specialty of the Yucatán. "Sweaty" Tacos with ripe tomatoes and cheese are so convenient they're sold on Mexican streets by bicyclists. Her grandmother's Cornflake Cookies feel just as contemporary now as they did then. Pati has "Mexed up" other recipes in such family favorites as Mexican Pizza with Grilled Skirt Steak and Onions. Still other dishes show the evolution of Mexican food north and south of the border, including Mexican Dreamboat Hotdogs and Cal-Mex Fish Tacos with Creamy Slaw. This food will draw everyone together--a family at the end of a working day, a book club, or a neighborhood potluck. Throughout, Pati is an infectious cheerleader, sharing stores of the food, people, and places behind the recipes., Intriguing recipes for everyday meals from the host of the PBS series Pati's Mexican Table On her PBS TV series, now in its fifth season, as well as in frequent appearances on shows like The Chew , Pati Jinich, a busy mother of three, has shown a flair for making Mexican cooking irresistibly accessible. Pati Jinich Mexican cookery..

cooks authentically, more homey than some cookbook writers who sometimes come across as preachy etc..love the fact that she is very very familiar with tastes that we all try to find replicated here is the states, that most mexican americans may have grown up on but not really put together in one book, her approach is deceptively simple, as she has done it all for me and tested and retested, at the same time she has become familiar with US tastes as well and knows what is actually sold here so there is an advantage to owning her books as she has done all the legwork and measurements for us...btw her recipes are on point. Recommend to all home cooks.

  • Mexican Food Lover's Delight!

We absolutely adore and enjoy Patti Jiinich! She spends her life with her family, and cooking! We watch her TV shows every week! There's is no other book that I'd rather recommend than Patti's Mexican Table! You'll be watering at the mouth with every page and recipe! Each one has a story, and you'll spend hours endrenched in Patti's recipe's! You won't be able to wait to rush to the store to buy the ingredients for each "mouth-watering" recipe and have a feast! She takes us on tour of the finest Mexican Quizine with every page and recipe!! This book is worth every dollar!
