    Works great, at a bargain price

    I was drawn to the Magellan RoadMate1212 because many people commented that was less prone to electronic malfunction than many of the newer GPS models. The internal map data base is from 2009, so in a few instances roads may have changed. But my experience has been 100%satisfactory. Even obscure little farm roads show up in perfect detail, and for the entire USA. The screen icons are easy to understand and use. I liked it so well I bought a second one and adapted it for my bicycle.

    Great GPS

    I've had one of these for quite a few years now & really like it. It's very easy to use & holds a charge for a long time as long as when you turn it off - you hold the button down for at least (10) seconds. Otherwise, it will go into a sleep mode, which is still on & will consume the battery. The only thing I can say negative, and it's probably true of most GPSs, dropping it on concrete is not a good idea. My original had several spills in the car, sometimes falling close to 3', but that was onto a rubber mat covered carpet, and suffered no ill effects. The steps from our garage into the house are concrete & one time the unit slipped out of my hand from less than a foot above the steps & that was all she wrote. If you buy one, hopefully the people who handle it won't drop it on concrete.

    Good for the money

    I like the item itself . It works well . I am having a hard time up dating it though , which I kinda expected because it is an older model . For the price though , it was a good value .
