Work well. Had many (10K +) old slides to scan for my parents. Scanned well. There are scanners with greater resolution to be had at much greater cost. Scanned some old negatives I had. Scanned very well.

I've bought this so called "scanner" for 5$. That was the only reason for making a purchase. It had trouble installing on Windows 7 and following versions as well, but I was able to make it work after all. And I must say it's a terrible thing. Color depth is shallow quality is below average even for black and white scans. After a couple of hours of fiddling with it I disassembled it only to discover a standard 5 megapixel sensor inside with a fixed focus single piece of lens screwed to it. It's by no means a scanner at all. Do not buy and if you get it as a gift, throw it away.

I can only comment on the Ion unit with regard to slide reproduction as I have not used it for negatives. Overall, it does an adequate job for most family vacation slides. It's easy to use - you just manually place up to 3 slides in the tray and capture them one at a time into the computer using the software provided. My biggest complaint is that there is no way to manually adjust the brightness of the lamp during the capture process. It's an automatic exposure adjustment that sometimes (often?) leaves areas of the slide over-exposed. This cannot be adjusted later in picture editing software, since those areas are driven to saturation and detail cannot be recovered. If I acquire those pictures as though they were negatives, I am sometimes able to quickly capture the picture as it slowly goes through the proper exposure brightness, and then edit the picture into a positive later. But that doesn't always work, and it really slows down the process of archiving your slides. This unit would be so much better with the simple addition of a manual exposure control.Read full review
I found this Scanner to be everything it they said it was. It was easy to set up, and worked great. Much better to scan slides with than using one of those camera mount slide capture devices. The Editing Program that came with it is easy to use, but you have to be careful not to add too much color. There is also a nice slide show program that makes it easy to show what you have scanned. Out of 10 possible points, I would give this one an 8.
I needed a film scanner to scan old 35 mm. slides and after going to manufacturers websites and getting quite frustrated, I decided to try ebay, and am very glad I did. I found the film scanner I wanted in no time. I have had very good results from scanning my old 35 mm. slides. The only difficulty I have had was in understanding the literature - it could be much clearer. Also, I have not had much success, if any, in scanning via my USB port, but instead, have scanned and then used the memory card to transfer the images. The memory card is a little tricky to delete images when full, but again, I think if the manufacturers directions had been more clear, there should not be a problem in doing that. All in all, I am quite satisfied with my product, and am glad I researched on ebay and found what I needed.Read full review
I purchased this item because I have many, many old slides and 35mm negatives. I found the item very easy to use on slides. I have yet to try it on my negatives. You have to be very careful when inserting and using the slide apperatus. I broke one of the small "swinging" doors off of the item the 3rd time I used it. This makes it a little more difficult to calibrate, as you have to hold your finger over the opening now while calibrating. Overall. a nice little item and I would buy it again!
Great way to restore memories on slides or negatives! Sometimes we lose the prints and are left with only the negatives, that was my case. I was able to easily and lovingly scan my negatives and they came out CRYSTAL CLEAR and can not only be saved but also printed, uploaded to social medias, or saved on a disc. I would recommend this scanner for those looking for something plain and simple to use.

i like this scanner, because it takes up little space.and can be put away when not in use.i had no problem scanning negatives or slides. it produced great photos.what i don't like is it takes a little time scanning.i decided to buy it from a fellow ebayer, that had scanned some negatives for sale. the photos were great for my likeing.my scanner quit on me after 8 yrs.it was a large one. i only needed it to do all my negatives to turn into photos ,so i could burn to a disc.i have another printer & scanner, but it did not copy negatives.i would recomend this scanner for anyone on a buget.
I purchased the ION Slide Scanner, as I had a lotof slides that were doing me no good , as they had to be viewed on a screen and I wanted the family to each have some memories of their childhood & what better way than to convert them unto discs. the scanner that I bought worked very well & easy to do.I was very satisfied and would recommend the scanner to any one that has slides. It is quite costly to have one of the stores to send them in. the slide scanner is the way to go. JR:)
First, You CAN use it on Windows 10. With just a little bit of determination (very little) it was set up in no time. I scanned about 450 slides in 3 days, not working continuously. I have always had great luck with ION products. I recommend this product to anyone. Thanks
