my pc was too old i knew going in its processor was too old & slow, being a pentium 3, bu ti bought it for future use when i get a better one. I think it needs 1gb RAM and a beter video card, like an ATI x1300 pci or similar lesser one by ATI if you have an AGP vid port or pci-express/pci-e. ATI also makes a 4200 pro model for pci slots. Read lots of reviews, seems great. Slightly linear and not totally free-roaming was the main of the 3 minor limitations that subtracted 1 star based on all i read. Keyboard controls not greatly easy easy but fairly so. Slightly blurry in normal mode. Has built-in 3d support (slightly blurry or blurrier in normal play mode), if you have either a 3d tv by panasonic or whoever the other mfr. is making them now and also either a PS360 a , or a CRT monitor 3D (projector?) or a 3D bluray disk player, or else you can achieve the 3D play with a regular old CRT monitor and an NVidia card and a 3rd party software that only works with that brand called 3D vision something (also made a limited edition a few years back that cam with the lousy game Star Trek Bridge Commander, a lousy game, even though i am a trekkie/trekker). ...You can play as either the blue Na'vi aliens or as an RDF soldier, several weapons to choose from. It's a prequel so it does not follow the movie storyline.Read full review
After coming off of a month of Modern Warfare 2 and Dragon age, I decided, against my better judgement, to give Avatar a try. Gamers know the quality of most movie based games, but I played this one because Im really looking foward to James Camerons return to cinema with the movie Avatar. This game has been pretty hyped as a revolution in movie based games, and while it isnt exactly that, it was far better than I expected. First, the good: -It plays and controls fairly well -The graphics are outstanding. Its obvious that the main character is actually Pandora itself. -Its of a pretty decent length -lots of weapons and armor -The AMP suit is pretty cool -A branching story give you an excuse to play through twice -The 'pandora-pedia' is awesome if you have an interest in the background of Avatar -If your a fan of Mass effect, you'll find a familiar voice. The bad: -It can get a bit repetitive -everybody knows: guns and mechs vs. spears and bows= guns and mechs win pretty much everytime -Its supposed to be a prequel, but I get the feeling that its pretty much the same story as the movie is going to be -the buggy has some major control issues compared to the rest of the vehicles - the pc version comes with some pretty nasty drm. I didnt realize that until after I bought it. GET THE CONSOLE VERSION. -multiplayer isnt dragging anyone away from Modern Warfare. I usually avoid reviewing movie games, but I did because I like the fact that it seems Ubisoft actually cared about what they were making, rather that just throw something together and call it a game. Its not a fantastic, jaw dropping game by any means, and theres a lot better this holiday season. For a movie game, its really good. Its most certainly worth a rental and possibly a buy if your really looking foward to the movie. Note: I didnt get the chance to play it that way, but its my understanding that the 3d tech this game can do makes it look even better.Read full review
Enjoyed this game on PS3, enjoyed it just as much on PC. Only issue is that after using Steam for so long, putting in a disk feels unusual.

I saw the film and then tried the game demo and suprisingly for me managed to complete it. Not being one for being able to get far in games I purchased the full game and am doing well have reached the Navi city. Gameplay is excellent and the respawning is good as without it I cant see how I could continue the levels. Graphics are brilliant and you really do feel you are there. Sometimes in the game I stop and just look around to appreciate this. My advice is if you want to see the capabilities of your graphics card is to buy this - It really does show off the PC and the refinement that games have reached. Using Windows 7 and DX10 card.
For a licensed game, is pretty good. A hidden gem specially for James Cameron Avatar fans.

This is a great game; the environment is deep, the game is challenging, and the graphics are awesome! Make sure your system meets the graphic requirements as I tried playing it in my wife's computer, and the processor could not keep up. If you are a fan of the movie, as I am, you will like the storyline. I'm not a fan of first person shooter games, but this game is very entertaining.
Great graphics and story line is simular to the movie....Its like being in the movie itself...If you are into first person shooter games and enjoy cool scenery with a story line then this game is for you...
It's a generic third person shooter but if you a fan of the game then you will love it! Its replay value is pretty good between multiplayer and at least two play throughs of the game to play as both sides.
I am into Mature rated games and the teen games are pretty good. This is a teen game and not really my style.
Good game, need a gaming computer to run it though. My computer, even though fairly new with a 320GB HD and 4MG RAM with dual core Intel processor could not handle the software demand.
