I'm sure it's definitely not brand new but it was all wrapped neatly in the sticker plastic and both cables were wrapped as if they came straight from a retail store. No scratches that I could see. It worked right out of the box. It connects to my laptops pretty fast after coming out of sleep mode. I've only had it for about two weeks but so far so good.

Bought 2 of these for my laptop and desktop. When they work, they are great! But my laptop eventually stop recognizing the 1st one, and not long after the same thing happened to the other one connected to my desktop. Both had the same error message "Not Initialized". I know for sure WD is a good brand from past experiences, but these were advertised as New Open Box and were most likely already defective, repackaged, and resold. Expensive lesson learned: Only buy new and avoid buying New Open Box!! Never know what you might end up with!!
