Item was listed as new, but was opened. It did look like it had never been used, but should have been listed as open box, not new. Otherwise, the modem works great and the seller saved me over $40 all in versus buying it new from Amazon. A great deal, and would definitely buy from this seller again without hesitation.

  • Excellent sound

This is my second Yamaha Natural Sound Receiver. It's 90 watts x7 power has a big dynamic presence. In 2009 this model listed for $479 retail. You can find a good used one for less than $100. Be sure to get the remote and manual, it's somewhat complicated to set up Because it's an older model the 4 HDMI(Ver. 1.3) inputs aren't 4k compliant. On the plus side the unit will upconvert composite and component video input and send it out via HDMI. With over a dozen sound field options and multiple inputs the RX-V565 receiver will give you premium sound at an affordable price.

  • More Like Yum-aha

Buying this in 2021 is a clear compromise, because it can only carry a 1080p signal. If you put a 4k device through it, you're either not going to get an image, or it will be downgraded. That's the main thing to keep in mind, dear reader. You can still run a cable directly from a 4k device to the TV, and then run a separate cable for audio to this receiver and not have to lose a thing. As time goes on, this will be useful for more and more niche applications. That aside, this is a great receiver. Plenty of inputs and sterling audio quality still make this a top notch addition to a stereo system. The AM/FM is a nice touch, and the antenna extension can work with any speaker wire/coax cable you happen to have lying around. No need to scare up the official Yamaha antennas. All the settings ...

  • Great receiver!

There were two things that convinced me get this model (besides it is Yamaha): HDMI upscaling and self-calibration. The calibration feature works awesome. The unit actually told me that the polarity of one of the rear speakers was incorrect. If you are unsatisfied, there are plenty adjustments that can be done manually too. Sound quality is absolutely fine and I never had any "insufficient power" issues in my 14'x30'+x10' living room. The reason I rate the unit as "good" is that there is NO switchable power outlet for the sub as in older units. It is really inconvenient to power up the sub manually each time... Would I recommend the receiver? Absolutely YES!

  • Excellent value!!

I've owned this receiver for about 2 months now and couldn't be happier with it. The features are great for the price!! Definitely get the most bang for your buck. 1 HDMI out cable for all (analog and digital inputs) makes for a nice, clean look to any home theater with the analog video upscaling. Major selling point for me. Excellent sound quality. My only complaints are that there are banana plug connections for ONLY the front speakers. Also, the on-screen display is a bit out-dated, but it is certainly helpful and makes setting up your system easier. The user manual is NOT very user-friendly, however. I can see how it would be frustrating to set-up. I'm pretty knowledgable of this stuff, so it wasn't too difficult to get all the advanced features set-up. Had to do some searching on the ...

  • This Receiver is da Bomb!!

The receiver is very easy to set up has great inputs and sounds great. The 7.1 channel surround enhancer feature is great for room filling sound from non-surround sources. The automatic detect for the source is great and the sound is always exceptional.Very good separation and equalization. The auto setup with the included mic gives you great sound instantly. The best receiver for the price. And I didn't even mention the video upscalng which is very impressive.
