Product Information
Take the role of a Russian infantry soldier or a United States Marine to engage is some of the most shocking actions of World War II. Set in Europe and the Pacific Theater, Call of Duty: World at War brings the terror and carnage of warfare to your Sony PlayStation 3. The powerful and detailed AI sound is real enough to transport you to the battlefield where flamethrowers toss scorching clouds and planes come up from the sky in the most unexpected moments. Discover the Call of Duty world alone in the single player campaign or bring on your best squad tactics to help your team survive in multiplayer mode.
Call of Duty World at War is an amazing installment to the franchise. With brutal gameplay, impressive graphics (for the time the game was made), and the first inclusion of zombies in Call of Duty history! However... this game is dated. Campaign is still as fantastic as ever and Zombies is always a blast! But the multiplayer is infested with hackers and there's pretty much nobody really playing it anymore. Definitely worth it for Story and Zombies though.
This game is great few years ago. If you play online 2016 , the game is hacked completely. Most matches I played are full of hackers.
I would give 5 stars if the online is non-hacked.
Great game much like its predecessor, but has many bugs
Call of Duty World at war really is a great game. It has an intense (while a little on the short side) single player campaign, and a deep multiplayer mode that has plenty of replay value to keep you coming back for more. It basically used the call of duty 4 formula and adds a few more features, such as co-op campaign mode (online or off) and the zombie game, which I think are great additions, trophy support is another plus.
There are a decent amount of guns, however I think there should have been more due to the fact that the highest level you can achieve before prestige mode is 65, which takes a lot longer than the previous call of duty game.
My biggest issue with the game is the bugs and glitches that plague it. There are glitches that allow you to go under the map or literally inside a rock that make you impossible to shoot, it kind of cheapens the experience. Also sometimes when you are getting killed, your gun will glitch and rapid fire (I've once had a shotgun that was shooting as fast as a machine gun for a few seconds) Another time as the dogs were being called, one of the dogs got stuck in a stairwell, not going up to kill the player up there, and just standing there idly blocking the way. In the single player mode I was shot down in one of the levels and as I was dying and the camera was facing the sky, it got stuck there without going back to the next checkpoint, you could still hear all the background battle noise, and after a few mins of waiting I had to restart the whole game, kind of annoying.
If you can get past these glitches and bugs, call of duty world at war is really a solid game that will most likely keep you occupied and entertained for a long time to come.Read full review
I'm a relatively new gamer and a WW2 history buff. My son is the gamer so I bought W.A.W. for the ps3, so we'd have something to play that we both might be interested in...As I said I'm new at gaming and hopefully i'm over looking something, but I had heard about the Nazi zombies on the game, but I dont have anything of the sort with my game...we dont play on line, just the campaign or in together in house, so maybe that has something to do with it? I have been on the Call of Duty website, and found it to be useless for those wanting basic info. The World at war trailers on the site shows the game to have many other aspects to it that mine does not have, or at least not on the campaign game mode anyway. Also my 8 year old breezed thru the game on the ez setting in no time, so when I started my campain I set difficulty to the next harder setting, and found it to be fun, sometimes challenging, and other times a breeze. I am able to get past several levels, in due time, after figuring out best strategies for each level, and in time advancing to next level, however I am at a stand still stuck on the opening moments of a certain level that try as i might, i cannot advance to a checkpoint, which is strange since every level b4 was manageable in time. Seems like it went from challenging to expert in one level, makes me wonder if activision wants you to pay for cheat codes or hints to be able to get past the level in question...
I'm glad I purchased the game, but would not pay brand new retail price to get it. The histroy and experiencing the Russian perspective is cool, and seems accurate. I've noticed the enemies A I I guess its called is not realistic in the fact that you frequently get hit by enemy that couldnt possible make such precision shots, as in you may pop your head up for a brief sec and be hit by a soldier running the opposite direction across the street in a back alley with an army tank in the line of fire and whole platoon of easier targets in in closer proximity for them to shoot at. The game seems a bit abreviated and should have more levels or missions. I have Modern Warfare 2 and there is far more to keep you interested in that game. I noticed the harder the difficulty setting, the longer the levels last, and not sure if that is common with games so that does help some with their not being a whole lot of levels to begin with.I do like the level where you are driving the russian tank fighting your way thru Panzers and bunkers and AI guns. As far as the weaponry, I guess it is accurate in way of era correct but my opinion is there isn't a whole lot of difference from one gun to the next, weather fully or semi automatic...You can be succesful fighting with the most basic rifle and I found that at times i do better with the M1 Grande than anything else. You need to learn the names of the guns quickly, as the pic of the guns are hard to distinguish from each other.
to recap, its a good game for experience gamers, and worth a look for anyone interested in WW2 or shooter games, but I wouldnt pay retail for it. I have only played a few games so my experience and knowledge is limited, so take that into consideration. Thx and God bless!Read full review
First I've got to say the game has a lot glitches, some time you just stuck between trees of obstacles, so you have to reboot, but entirely the game is great ,i would say is more interesting than 'Modern Warfare" ( MD Some parts better cause of the story line is in Present day and Modern Weapons)
About Trophies , to get them you have to play on Highest Veteran Mode and I would say it's not that easy , Some Maps you gonna have to replay on easiest mode , cause of Difficulty you won't be able complete some trophies, and some on ONLINE mode that would take a while.
My opinion
Game 4.5 out of 5
Graphics 4 out of 5
Online 5 out of 5
