I am a Clive Barker Fan. This game has a great Clive Barker story (soon to be made into a movie). Graphics are good and bloody. All the sounds are amazing and the music is great. Think of the squad from the Aliens movie. The characters are much like them with there wit and dialogue. But if the Aliens squad had special powers like The Jericho Squad then those aliens would never had stood a chance. The story is very detailed explaining why you are doing what you are doing. There is never a dull moment if you are a story gamer. Action does lack for the action gamer since the AI is way low. The action is decent if you are a tactical gamer who can think on the fly and combine your squad's powers. Also the game is very linear. Not much to explore and no hidden features. Also if you want the unlockables you have to pay Codemasters for the cheat codes unless you can pull off the different super difficult goals you need to unlock them. And since each game disc is different you can not share them with a friend unless they are borrowing your disc. The Good: Music Sound Effects Story and Dialogue Tactical Situations Character and Enemy Graphics Character Personalities Various Character Special Powers, abilities, and equipment The Bad: Low Action (unless on hard) Linear (No Where to go but forward) Bad AI Short game play Mediocre Background graphics for a PS3 game Pay for Unlockables? (poor form from Codemasters) You have to be really awesome to get Unlockables for free So as you can see there is both good and bad in the game that are about equal which is why I gave it a 3 out of 5. Clive Barker is a master of horror and suspense. I went into this game hoping they could match this genius' deranged visions and put them into a palatable horror based game, sadly the makers didn't accomplish this. I'm going to layer this review out with good and bad things, as it does have some strong points. They got a lot of gore and some suspense into this game, but story was hard to follow sometimes (I'm kind of ADD and not much for these long cinematics though, so maybe it was just for me) The graphics are very good. Character and enemy detail are excellent. I'd have to say the one huge highlight of this game is definitely the enemy detail, absolutely gorey and magnificent. I'm not going to comment on the background because it almost seems like a side scroller as its very repetitive at some points. No control customization? Who even does that anymore.. nuff said. There are definitely a lot of enemies to kill so if you're looking for a straight shoot um up game you'll love this one. THE ENEMIES ARE MINDLESS. There is no AI in this game to speak of really. Occasionally a monster with a gun will hide behind a wall but besides that no flanking, no covering fire, no hiding, its just mindless straight barrage after barrage of attacks, most of the enemies will not even try to avoid your fire. Another really cool feature of this game is body possession. To play your tactics out best, different characters have different weapons and magical abilities (some really cool, some really worthless) and when you want to utilize those abilities or weapons yourself, or when the game tells you you need to, you can switch to any of the other characters in your squad. Sound was very good, from music to quips from various characters during battles. If your playing at night with all the lights off and the sound cranked it can definitely add to this game. Now to get to the game killer in my eyes. This is basically a track based game. you can back up about 30 secs to the last door or obstacle you hit, that's it. There is nothing to explore, there are no side ways to go, there aren't various routes if you want to go back and play the game again, and the monsters come from the front 97% of the time. When they come from the back, they had to have magically appeared because there is no where they could have come from. This game might as well be like Time Crisis and decide where it wants you to go. Lastly, there are way too many load points and they each take ~30 seconds. It really detracts from the game play as well. My last words are save yourself 50 bucks and buy Doom 3 for your computer, its a better game anyways. If you must have a PS3 game there isn't one too close to this but of course of you want a good FPS buy Rainbow Six Vegas if you want to control other people in your squad or Resistance fall of man if you just want to kill stuff. Hope this helped and saved you some money.Read full review
Easy is a bit harder than most "Easy" gameplay, but still like the challenge and the darkness/excitement of the game. Great "teamwork" game. I like how you can switch characters and experience their powers/weapons! :-)

What can I say? This is one great horror first person shooter game. It is extremely biblical. It hits points so accurate in religeous beliefs, and mixes perfectly with the story line. I can emphisize enough how great this game is. Fun, great combat techniques and squad based first person shooter experiences. The only thing is, in my opinion, is the game could have been made lengthier, and had better boss fights. More boss fights at that point as well. I give it a 3/5.
Presentation- Menus are nice and slick, horror effects are excellent, but sadly there are no options to change the control set up. Graphics- Characters are very detailed and look very nice. The enemy detail is absolutely mind blowing, and gruesome as well! The levels has a tremendous amount of detail and overall its great. This is the strongest point of the game. Sound- Extremely spooky music and nice sound effects. In this game, there is always a creepy sound across the corner. Gameplay- Awesome guns, cool magical powers, many different monsters, team tactics are nice, character switching is intense, a lot of different ways to kill an enemy. Lasting Appeal- Sadly, the lasting appeal isn't very strong. After you beat the approximately 12 hour campaign, there is not much to do except maybe play it on a higher difficulty. However, you will probably come back to this game to get some more kicks out of it once you've beaten it. Overall- If you love scary things, weird monsters, gruesome places, a LOT of blood, then quit wasting your time reading this review and get the game!Read full review
a clive barker movie with a team of occult specialist armed to the teeth? i liked the premise immediately. i struggled a bit to master the jumping around in the characters and using their arcane powers, which made life difficult as i found pure firepower inadequate for the monsters being conjured up as we progressed deeper into the desert citadel - expect to die and be regenerated a lot. i found it hard to complete. but they lay on the atmosphere, with enough gore to satisfy most, and there is enough challenge to repeat and get wired to make this ultimately satisfying. B or B+ for effort. give it a try if u r into FPS's
Game plays well very good shape

The story line in this game is really cool. It is about a covert governmental agency trained in both magic and conventional warfare. They have been sent to Al Kahli to stop someone from opening a portal to hell, essentially. The graphics are decent and so is the game play. The exploding zombies get annoying sometimes as maps are constrictive to one small pathway. At some points, it is difficult to defeat all the enemies. This game would have been excellent if it had a co-op multi-player option, which it unfortunately doesn't. This game would have probably been better as a movie than a game, but it is still relatively fun to play at least once. Bought it here on ebay for less than 10$, so even if I get bored of it I don't have to feel crummy for spending a ton of money on a game I don't like. Overall, I would give this game a 6.7/10: good, but not excllent...a lot of untapped potential elsewhere here...Read full review

The story behind this game is pretty interesting but thats all thats good about this game. #1 Poor A.I., I've played plenty of games that are quite challenging but you have to question if they gave any of these characters any type of intelligence. The enemy's run at you like they were on speed and your own team does not do anything but wait for them to come and blow up right in front of them. #2 Not challenging - This game it too easy but at the same time frustrating because the enemy is so dumb down that it gets boring. My recommendation is to rent it, try it out and never play it again because even though there are some killer CGI movies, unfortunately thats all that it has. Save your money and get COD4
