Good quality non-WR all purpose, walk-around AF lens

Camera used: new Pentax K-3. OBSERVED POSITIVES: AF and autoexposure are fast and accurate at all focal lengths. AF is quiet and does not "hunt". MF is quick and easy to use. Very minor CA and flare evident at 18mm (not unusual). Overall good to excellent resolution at all focal lengths. Colours are rich, very realistic. Lens seems well-built, solid, durable, does not feel "cheap" in any way. Simplicity, robustness, weight, and ease-of-use are ideal for an all-purpose, walk-around lens. OBSERVED NEGATIVE: lens is not weather-resistant. After a few months of daily outdoor use, some visible dust internal to lens is now seen. This is not major, but can affect pre-edited images especially when shooting directly into point source light. SUMMARY: very good value AF lens, good zoom range, ...

    Pretty good amatuer lens.

I bought this lens because I have the same model bought years ago that provided a very sharp image. I wanted another one for a friend. Unfortunately, this one is not as sharp. It okay and a good value at the price, just not as good as the earlier purchase.

  • all-in-one lens

This is a classic all-in-one multi focal formula that is the staple for both Sigma and Tamron. There is a new improved model for this lens but unfortunately the newer lens doesn't come in Pentax KF mount so I have to buy this older model. I am very happy with it because it is convenient to have only one lens on your camera, which can cover nearly all the shots you normally take. The price is right because it is from an independent lens manufacturer and it is made in VietNam where labor is dirt cheap.

  • Tamron AF18-200MM f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II Lens

The Tamron AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II is a versatile, well-rounded lens. The lens produces sharp images at both ends of the 18-200 range. The lens does seem to suffer from slight outward creep, though I have noticed the same problem with the Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3D DC. The major upside to the Tamron and Sigma 18-200's is their affordability, especially when compared to the Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX VR II (about $400.00 more on average). The Tamron lens did leave something to be desired with regard to focus noise, especially after being spoiled by the Nikon's Silent Wave motor. However, the construction of the Tamron lens is probably what bothers me most. The lens has a cheap "feel", being made of lightweight and less durable materials, but one may notice this only ...

  • AF 18-200MM XR DI LENS

This lens is good for travel. Its great for vacations. The lens works well, outside, and has great color. Photos are sharp. Its light, but has a good zoom,200mm and if you need a wide lens, its there also,at amazing 18mm. If you are just starting off,and just a Mom or Dad,this would be a good lens to start out with.If you need a fast lens then just go out,and buy a 50mm Nikon 1/8 For low light. This will keep you going for a while. This lens will work for a Soccer game,or football, during the Mornings, and afternoon. This lens would not be good for low light night games. But if the sun is out it will do a fine job.
