These speakers are excellent. They have been around for 24 years. It is no longer manufactured. It looses 1 star because the connection requires2 set of cables. From right to left requires the use of a second cable only god knows where to find it. Its a single cable with two different type of jack. This is the dumbest connection design I have seen. Unless its done to give the great sound it has I don't know. I would not recommend it because I cannot find the cable for the left speaker rendering it useless

I have two pairs of these speakers, one black, one white, and I love them. The sound quality is my first priority and I love that these speakers have volume, bass and treble controls so that I can always adjust them to fit the use of the moment. I have one pair set up with my television, the other with my computer. That pair gets adjusted a lot, to match the particular kind of music or book I'm listening to. They are powered and really pack a punch. I often crank them up and roam around the house doing chores. In addition to these controls there's also a mic input jack (1/4") and an headphone jack (1/8"). I often will move one of the pair to another location and plug my iPod into them. The speakers are small enough to easily move, but they are powered, so you need an electrical outlet. Regarding price: the speakers are discontinued so price is hard to gauge. $40 seems fair.Read full review

These monitors are essentially identical to the Behringer MS16 monitors that are currently on the market. There is no doubt that these would be an upgrade from any set of computer speakers that either come with your computer or you would buy at an Office Depot or the like. I think that can be attributed to the fact that Roland is one of the most respected names in real professional audio.
