About this product

Product Information

This fireworks-based puzzle title is notable for being the only title available from Sony on the PlayStation 2's launch date. In a manner similar to Missile Command, the goal is to select and detonate matched groups of flares. Using the analog stick to point from flare to flare, a player must link three or more similar flares and set them off in a chain of fireworks explosions. The bigger the chain, the higher your score.

Each level has a predetermined length and a set course, scrolling through cities, outer space, and unknown territories. With a limited amount of energy, players stay alive by detonating as many flares as possible, and by grabbing various power-ups as they appear onscreen. Collecting enough "star" power-ups releases a "Starmine" flare -- a sort of bonus round, rapid-fire succession of flares.

Upon successfully completing a level, you can watch a replay using various camera angles and add different lighting and weather effects. You can also store your best rounds on a memory card and show your fireworks displays off to your friends. Skilled players will be able to unlock a few extra options once they complete the regular game, including a Master Chain mode.

A two-player mode allows for head-to-head competition on a vertical split-screen. As a player battles for flares, he can use various power-ups to increase his share of the screen (thereby shrinking his opponent's side) or rotate his half of the screen to steal the other player's flares and items. The game continues until the first player detonates a set number of flares.

  • Let's celebrate the PlayStation 2!

Created by SONY, FANTAVISION is their game development team's very creative way of celebrating their continued success that is/was the PS2, continuing after the initial success that was the original PlayStation. FYI, the SONY gaming division was an offshoot of team members who initially worked for Nintendo in developing a CD based gaming system. Nintendo decided to pull the plug on the project, but the staff behind it decided that they put too much money into the project to just not make use of the product of their efforts, so the initial PlayStation was born -which ended up outselling SEGA's SATURN system in the US market and promptly pushed it off the market just a few months after its release. In FANTAVISION, you are auto-scrolled through a representation of various real world ...

  • Its a Classic!

What i liked about this game-well basically the fireworks, thats what attracted the game to me and the game play is pretty cool its like the more fire works you match together the more points you get and you get to blow it all up! I got this game because this was really one of the first titles that came out on launch day for the Sony Playstation 2 so basically ITS A CLASSIC! And Most Classics Are a MUST HAVE! So GET IT!!IF you have surround sound and a big Screen TV(like myself) Youll forget that you're sitting in your living room!!

  • FantaVision for Christmas

I bought the game for my 7 year old son for Christmas. He hasn't gotten it yet, but I have been told by others that he won't like it. Who knows? It's a game. might as well play it, right?
