Essential for plastic modeling
A multitude of tools get used to clip plastic parts from their sprues, after we presumably all got over our childhood impatience where we twisted and ripped the parts off! These Xurons are specifically and solely for this job, and they cut very cleanly and can be snugged easily right up the part, leaving very little stub for later cleanup. I previously used a more general-purpose clipper by Xuron but eventually wear produced jagged jaw edges, and it was time for a good replacement. Two observations/resolutions: this should NEVER be used to cut wire, not even fine soft copper, but should be saved for plastic ONLY. Second, for the really, really fine and fragile parts that modern kit molders are able to make, a 2nd cutter should be kept handy: Micromark®'s cutting tweezers. But those ... What great sprue cutters! Don't loose the very handy rubber tubing that protects the working end of this tool, as those cutting edges are extremely sharp and the tube certainly will protect from accidents. The cutting edges line up nicely and the modeler can get a nice easy clean cut with them The handle is comfortable and firmly fixed. Can't be beat for the price
For a sprue (plastic styrene) cutter it does the job well. Wouldn't attempt to cut anything else with it or it will impair its durability. The jaws are fairly sturdy but I'm afraid the material is not as hard as say a Lindstrom pair of pliers that is rated a flush cutter. Very ergonomic, feels good on your hands. This is my go-to cutter on a day-to-day basis in plastic modeling, for finer or for other materials I have other cutters.For a sprue (plastic styrene) cutter it does the job well.
