I'm glad I was able to find this in Region 1 format. The package condition was fine, and it was well protected in shipment. But those price tags slapped directly on the skipcase and on one of the disc cases...ugh. *Why* do people do this? I remember the TV show when it first aired back in '74. It's always the coolest thing when you're just a kid. I'm fifty-grumble now, and I see the *earnestness* of the production. Still, it's good to reconnect with what was probably my first franchise love.

    The Houe of the Spirits

    The Houe of the Spirits based on the book by Isabel Allende is set in Chile pre and during their revolutionary period of the 1970's (Pinochet.) As always, Allende blends history, culture and magic with genius. And, in this story she knows it so well as she is from an important Chilean political family. Casting is superb with Jeremy Irons, Meryl Streep, Glenn Close and Winona Ryder. I can't stress how beautifully the film makers captured the essence of Chile and of how superb Allende intrigues us with her magical and smart story telling.

    House of the Spirits

    House of the Spirits is a very rich, sweeping, epic tale which includes incredible performances by Meryl Streep, Jeremy Irons, Antonio Banderas, Glenn Close, and Winona Ryder. Each character is multi-dimensional and quite believeable. It depicts passion, wealth, power, greed, revenge, and undying love in a very succinct and dramatic way. For movie viewers who hold these actors among your favorites, this movie is not to be missed.
