    A MUST READ BOOK

This book should be a must read for high school students and anyone interested in understanding the background of where we are today in every facet of our lives. While it is virtually impossible to be totally unbiased in our understandings of religion, our values, morals, economic situation, etc., but the author does an excellent job of presenting where we came from and things evolved over time....and will continue to evolve. A MUST READ !!

  • Top critical review

Not at all brief as the title says.

Extensive .verbal output that goes on and on about what may have been part history and part personal opinion. It is over 450 pages; I skipped a lot of it as not needed and off the track. Maybe 250 pages would have been better. But, as a used book, the price was right.

  • Engrossing and informative

Thee author creates a compelling slant on humans and the human species. The book is engrossing, well written and is often a great page-turner! I highly recommend it.

  • Interesting history book

An interesting and engaging book. Overall I enjoyed reading this book. A good walk thorough into the life of the first homo-sapiens to the spread of diseases in agriculture age, formation of larger communities with spread of empires and religions. Yuval also explain the foundation of capitalism and empires contributed to the modern science revolution. I felt the explanation on Asian empires is very brief, author mentioned that Indian and Arab empire were powerful economy before rise of scientific revolution, but couldn't find good explanation how they became the powerful economy in the first place. Yuval's writing makes it a interesting story how we humans become dominating force on earth and have so little respect to all other species on this planet.

  • Perhaps the best book I've read

This is a great book. Beautifully written. Harari unfolds history in a way that is logical, intuitive and comprehensive in a way I've never experienced before. I read a lot of history and can say, without hesitation, that this is one of the best - if not the very best - book I've read.
