I've had this receiver for around 3 months and must say that it is just what I've been wanting in a home theater and music center. I've got a miss-match of speakers that I've had for many years and the 1065 performs perfectly with all of them. It sets up very quickly with the GUI. I like to set up using the manual option as you can mold the speaker levels and tone to your own expectations. The remote is laid out fairly well and is easy to get used to. The hdmi CEC through option makes it nice when you just want to listen to the TV only without having to turn on the receiver. The gui is layed out fairly well and basic so it’s easy to understand. I have this thing set up to sound great using the TV, Blu Ray, PS3, CD, and is hooked up to my outside antenna which allows me to receive standard and HD radio which sounds great. This unit stays cool and doesn’t get hot like many other receivers that I have had. Bottom line is the awesome sound reproduction that this produces and a great layout of functions. It’s a little smaller and lighter than the older Yamaha receivers but doesn’t take away from the power or performance.Read full review
This receiver was one great buy. It took a bit to figure out the best approach to hook up all the additional components in order to record from satellite but now that its complete its simply a great system. I added the Yamaha speaker system and the sound is excellent. The limitations are mine - hard to see the labels on the remote as they are very small print - especially with the lights dimmed. Other than that - great buy!
This is a very good 5.1 receiver for the price. It offers an array of sounds and includes enhanced sound on 2 or 5 channel. It also offers straight sound. The unit has a very good operating instruction manual which makes it easy to set up. All in all, a very good entry level 5.1 surround sound receiver.
Since I purchased this receiver I am sold on Yamaha products. I hope to try find another one comparable in the near future.

This receiver is barely used in my opinion. I have used it in all purposes with ease. It6 integrates very welln with my Onyko DV-CP706 DVD changer. the trick to optimizing this unit is to use Coaxial and Optical for Audio and HDMI for Video. This unit powers by Bose/Polk audio speakers very well. Thanks
