A For Effort and Better Than Nothing
So I have now used the product for a few days. It does work the way it’s supposed to work, but, as the company that makes the product itself says, it’s not perfect. For example, I called the company and they say that it does not work on thick walled K cups (my Kirlands from Costco are thinner), and the cutting blades, described below, apparently wear out after 6 weeks (so you have to rebuy – the blades used to be replaceable but no longer are.) K cups have 4 basic elements. The plastic pod, including the rim and base, the foil on top adhered to the rim, the coffee inside and the filter that holds the coffee (made from abaca fiber, the same material as a teabag.) The Recycle-a-Cup unit itself consists of a plastic lid that fits over the top of the K cup, and depressable spring loaded ... So I have now used the product for a few days. It does work the way it’s supposed to work, but, as the company that makes the product itself says, it’s not perfect. The Recycle-a-Cup unit itself consists of a plastic lid that fits over the top of the K cup, and depressable spring loaded tabs that actuate retractable blades, like little Exacto knives, on the inside of the unit. You depress the tabs to extend the blades and then twist the unit or the pod. This causes the blades to separate the base of the pod from the lid (to which the filter, coffee and foil remain attached). The plastic is a "7", which is a mixed form, so, though you can recycle in our town, that’s not the case everywhere. The company offers to recycle if you mail to them if your town does not. For the remainder of the pod (lid, foil, coffee, and filter), you can then twist off the filter and coffee from the lid and compost the coffee and (in our town) the filter. This leaves the rim and the foil. The foil can be peeled off if you run your nail along the top of the rim edge. That leaves the rim and the foil that is still adhered to it. Not sure if this can be recycled. So this product does some things, but not everything, and wears out sooner than I would have expected. That having been said, it is the only product out there for recycling of K cups that I have found. I guess if you really cared about the environment, you wouldn’t use K cups. But I really like the convenience at home and office. So overall, I would recommend the product and give the Recycle-a-Cup an A for effort and better than nothing!

OK but could be better
A lot of the time this product does not make a clean cut, thus allowing you to throw the plastic into the recycle bin. I have been using for two weeks and am disappointed. As I had to buy two, I am going to try the second one soon but I have no reason to think it will be better. If I hold the Kcup upside down and watch the blades penetrate the plastic it works OK The cutting blades need to be maybe 1/16 inch longer to better penetrate the plastic and make a clean cut.A lot of the time this product does not make a clean cut, thus allowing you to throw the plastic into the recycle bin. Sort of works. Grade is incomplete
Removes the top of the pod easy enough but still a PIA to separate out the grounds and filter. At least I can toss the bottom half of the pod in the recycle now but going to throw out the top with grounds, foil, and filter. Just too big a job to separate all of that. Some say this in only good for a few weeks then the blades go dull. If that's true I will change my review.

Works "Okay", but does not cut thru filter in cup. Cuts outer plastic , but not completely thru. filter to separate as they claim. Still had to cut filter out to recycle plastic bottom. this was on Non Keurig cups. which are not the same size as original K cups., Buyer be aware of this.
