    not good

    this is no fault of the seller bought to replace a new failed unit did not use will not use will not return will not resell i had 7 out of 10 fail or continually false alarm, hush button does not work, and i have championed kidde for years. not in this case fortunately i got all of my money back sans the extra one i bought in error do not ask i will not even give it away. one false alarm from one of them causing all of them to go off caused a premature delivery for a lady. i would caution you to be careful with this particular unit. i replaced all of them with first alert units even the ones in my own home.

    Kidde RF-SM-DC Smoke Detector

    I purchased this unit as a replacement for one of three units which are installed in my home. I mutilated one of the three units attempting to remove the smoke detector from the ceiling mounting ring. I could not separate the smoke detector from the mounting ring. I spent a long time attempting to attach the new smoke detector to its mounting ring prior to installing it on the ceiling. The smoke detector would not engage the mounting ring. I called Kidde and a representative agreed with my thought that during packaging the wrong mounting ring could have been included and she suggested I return the unit to the retailer for an exchange. This is unacceptable for a smoke detector that cost $39.00. If this is the best Kidde can do, I will try another brand.

    Truly Lifesavers

    All smoke alarms are good. These are even better. The beauty of interconnected smoke alarms is that one goes off, they then all go off. Not even Rumpelstiltskin could sleep thru this!

    Updated all Smoke Detectors after 10 yrs

    Had the need to add a bedroom that was not originally in hardwaired smoke Dector zone... added a hardwired Kidde & also a DC (battery ) version.. now all smoke detectors chime collectively... who wants to be the last one out when there is a fire? Unit is perfect.. and all units (6) were up in 2 hrs... done for 10 more years...
