    An apprentice becomes Santa Claus

    After watching this movie, and enjoying it so very much, I bought copies to send to family members and friends as Christmas gifts. I am 69 years old and I asked myself why I had never thought about what Santa would have been like as a younger man. It is an interesting question, and this movie has an interesting answer to that question. It is set in a different time when young men were apprenticed to different tradesmen to learn a trade. Until an apprentice became fully trained he was often a big burden on the household where he was staying as another mounth to feed, another person to clean up after, and another person to live in a small house. Apprenticeship will have to be explained to a lot of viewers for them to get a fuller understanding of the story. The rarety here is that the ...

    I kept losing interest in the movie. The title and the story line do not match. I felt like there was very little budget for this movie and they had to use as few props as possible.

    Explains Santa Claus quite well.

    I LOVE this story. It is my favorite Santa Claus movie by far! Great explanations for all the Santa Claus legend and traditions: red suit trimmed in white fur, stockings used for gifts, fat Santa, how did gift giving by Santa start, reindeer pull sleigh, etc etc The story is told in the book “ The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus” by Julie Lane. Small differences between book and movie but both are definitely worth it if you want to explain all the lore to your kids. I bought book and movie for each of my children as they start their own families. Wish I had them when my kids were little.
