  • Awesome shipping speed, great buy.

I bought this book as it is known as one of the best books about compilers, used at MIT, Stanford, etc. I wanted to learn about compilers as my university's computer science program doesn't cover compilers and I was interested, a couple of professors I respect recommended this book. This is the international edition and paperback, so it's not constructed as solidly as the U.S. edition, but it was arount 1/10th the price. So, an order of magnitude cheaper has to take a hit somewhere. Other than that, it is a solid tome, pages are a little thin, but seem stable and solid. My only complaint would be sub-par printing, so there's a few light grey smudges on every few pages, but it does not impair the content. Compared to my other book purchases, this is by far the fastest shipping I've ...

  • Bait and switch to justify paying more for a cheaper product

I am very disappointed. Apparently, I did not read enough. I naively though the product pictured was the product being shipped. Argh. No. If you read down below, there are detailed warnings about different ISBN numbers and some minor different content. In the United States, this is illegal. It's called Bait and Switch. The bait is the cover of the version that everyone wants. The switch is the cheaper international version that I could have easily purchased for less elsewhere. I did not want the other version. I wanted the "Purple Dragon" edition. I am very very disappointed. I'll live with this version because I'd have to ship at my cost the product back. But, I am very very frustrated and disappointed. Did I mention showing a different ...

  • Ripoff, do not buy

Ripoff, they advertise the US hardcover, it's just a cheap paperback version. After I've complained they have changed the description and told me I didn't read it clearly. Won't buy from them ever again!
