Titebond Glue
I used this to teglue the "nut" on a very old violin . The glueing time gave me enough minutes to reset and reposition the wood a couple of times to get it perfectly positioned. The wood has held well and I cannot see how anyone would use anything else. The price was great and the performance excellent.

Titebond Liquid Hide Glue #5012 is amazing. No other wood glue compares.
My Grandfather's 1900 Violin had been neglected and improperly stored for about 50 years. The fingerboard had deep groves from excessive playing and the whole bottom of the violin had come apart, and even wooden parts from inside came off. I ordered the Tightbond Hide Glue #5012 because restoration articles suggested it as a glue that should be used for musical instruments and at a later time, if necessary, you could heat the parts glued and safely remove them without cracking or damaging the wood, such as a fretboard, bridge or nut. I was amazed how easily I could work with the glue. A little goes a long way on a Violin. I glued and clamped the entire bottom and associated parts. 24 hours later, I removed the clamps and it looked like new. Then I removed the fretboard and replaced it with ... This is the best glue that I have ever used. I am extremely happy with the results. Not being a professional at restoring musical instruments, I was surprised how easily it was able to make the repairs.

This is not real hide glue
To me. this is not hide glue. I got into hide glue about 15 years ago for musical instruments and this was the first one I tried. I thought it was garbage compared to the crystals from Ragland Piano you mix with water and then heat up on a stove, which I love. The hide glue on he stove is wicked hot and is a totally different animal than this Titebond stuff. The real stuff is easy to use so there's no reason to use this Titebond product, they are just trying to capitalize on the words "hide glue".To me. this is not hide glue. This is perfect for violin repair - closing and sealing cracks and openings.
I bought this glue to repair and close the opening to the back of an old violin I bought. I was amazed how easy it was to apply and how well it worked. It turned a novice like me into a luthier. Imagine having Hide glued already prepped and ready to squeeze out as desired. This is what this stuff is. Yea! Modern Inventions! I highly recommend it.
