Reviews
"The tone remains lively and fun throughout, revealing a refreshingly silly side to some of today's most serious minds. Work and play, it seems, can go hand in hand." -Architectural Digest 's, AD Daily "[PIN-UP] has given birth to a brilliant book that consists of (almost) all of the interviews from the magazine's seven years of existence...The delightful chatter with Rem Koolhaas, Hedi Slimane, Daniel Libenskind, Peter Marino, Zaha Hadid, Rick Owens and many others is gathered together in one comprehensive and handsome book." - Gert Jonkers, Fantastic Man "A mesmerizing book of interviews that reads as addictively as a thriller." - Hans-Ulrich Obrist, Co-Director of the Serpentine Gallery, London "As I always enjoy reading PIN-UP's interviews in the magazine, not least as they either introduce me to unfamiliar, but unexpectedly intriguing subjects, or shed new light on familiar ones, I am delighted to rediscover them in this book." -Alice Rawsthorn, design critic and author of "Hello World: Where Design Meets Life" "'Writing about music is like dancing about architecture' -- The PIN-UP anthology is the only mirror ball that can rock your sitting room." -Francesco Vezzoli, artist "Few magazines exhibit the quality of disciplined irreverence and visual panache the way PIN-UP magazine does. Felix Burrichter's timely intervention into the staid world of architectural entertainment elevates and enlivens the genre. The new PIN-UP interview bible is a must read, it is a collection of who and what is relevant in design and architecture now." -Okwui Enwezor, Director Haus der Kunst, Munich "The 21st Century has never looked or felt better, thanks to PIN-UP." - Michael Stipe, artist "A bunch of pink elephants turning pink." - Eva Franch i Gilabert, Director Storefront for Art & Architecture, New York, "A mesmerizing book of interviews that reads as addictively as a thriller." -- Hans-Ulrich Obrist, Co-Director of the Serpentine Gallery, London "As I always enjoy reading PIN-UP's interviews in the magazine, not least as they either introduce me to unfamiliar, but unexpectedly intriguing subjects, or shed new light on familiar ones, I am delighted to rediscover them in this book." -- Alice Rawsthorn, design critic and author of "Hello World: Where Design Meets Life" "'Writing about music is like dancing about architecture' -- The PIN-UP anthology is the only mirror ball that can rock your sitting room." -- Francesco Vezzoli, artist "Few magazines exhibit the quality of disciplined irreverence and visual panache the way PIN-UP magazine does. Synopsis
PIN-UP Interviews is a compilation of over 50 of the most fascinating interviews from PIN-UP magazine since its first issue was published in October 2006. Serious, yet accessible, and featuring the elegant and modern aesthetic PIN-UP's readers have come to expect, there is no comparable compilation found today with such a stunning array of contemporary design talent collected in one place. It's an indispensable source for all lovers of today's brightest architectural and design ideas. PIN-UP Interviews is the first book produced by PIN-UP, the award-winning, New York-based biannual architecture and design magazine. Cheekily dubbing itself the "Magazine for Architectural Entertainment," PIN-UP features interviews with architects, designers, and artists, and presents their work informally--as a whimsical assembly of ideas, stories, and conversations, all paired with cutting-edge photography and artwork. Both raw and glossy, this "cult design zine" in the words of The New York Times , is a nimble mix of genres and themes, finding inspiration in the high and the low by casting a refreshingly playful eye on rare architectural gems, amazing interiors, and smart design, resulting in a veritable Venn diagram of where these spheres cross-pollinate. Included in PIN-UP Interviews are the architects David Adjaye, Shigeru Ban, Ricardo Bofill, David Chipperfield, Zaha Hadid, Junya Ishigami, Rem Koolhaas, Peter Marino, Richard Meier, and Ettore Sottsass; artists Daniel Arsham, Cyprien Gaillard, Simon Fujiwara, Boris Rebetez, Oscar Tuazon, Andro Wekua, and Robert Wilson; and designers Rafael de C rdenas, Martino Gamper, Rick Owens, Cl mence Seilles, Hedi Slimane, and Bethan Laura Wood., PIN-UP Interviews is a compilation of over 50 of the most fascinating interviews from PIN-UP magazine since its first issue was published in October 2006. - e***n (391)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseGreat transaction, exactly as described, packed well, and promptly shipped on August 6th. Unfortunately the U.S. Postal Service took 23 calendar days to deliver the book. It was shipped from Pennsylvania, to Atlanta, past Alabama to Texas, enjoyed several days in Texas, then to Minneapolis, Jacksonville, Florida, back to Atlanta, finally to Birmingham, and Huntsville. The seller was very responsive and I decided it was interesting to see if/how the book would arrive. Thanks, Joe
