The band is currently comprised of original drummer Phil Ehart, bassist/vocalist Billy Greer, vocalist/keyboardist Ronnie Platt, violinist/guitarist David Ragsdale, keyboardist/vocalist Tom Brislin, guitarist Zak Rizvi, and original guitarist Richard Williams. With no signs of slowing down, Kansas continues to perform in front of large and enthusiastic audiences around the world. The summer of 2020 marks the release of The Absence of Presence, Kansas's sixteenth studio album. The wide-ranging progressive rock album follows-up 2016's The Prelude Implicit, which debuted at #14 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart.

    DOROTHY, WE'RE NOT KANSAS ANYMORE, BUT ARE WORTH THE LISTEN

    I have been a KANSAS, Wheathead" through thick and thin since 1975. While ABSENSE OF PRESENCE doesn't hold a candle to most of Kerry Livgren's classic symphonic rock, the groups two primary writers have penned some good cuts that rival the "so so" tracks of the classic1974-1980 era. Ronnie Platt is no vintage Steve Walsh, but his vocals are good, and blend well with the various styles found within this release. This album is a nice cross between its predecessor and the better tracks from the two Kansas releases on MCA in 1986 and 1988. There is no soul in this rock and roll, but there is a fair amount of heart. Tw original Kansas members remain, the steady Phil Ehart on drums and Rich Williams on guitar. David Ragsdale does the usual stellar job on violins, though Robbie Steinhart's violin ...
