The blade was covered in grease for rust protection but when I whipped the grease off I found the blade to not be as polished as the one in the auction photo. As far as sharpness goes it could barely cut into paper. The blade will be more shiny if it is under the good lights. And please have try to grind the tip of the blade on a grind stone if you think it is not too sharp.
