Holds the phone nicely but does stick out a bit
I had a holder similar to this one but it had spring type hooks that attached it to the vent. I really liked the one I had as it held the phone securely, even in the flip open leather case that I have on my phone, without crimping the case at the edges. This holder seems to hold the phone as well as my last one and does not crimp my case. I will have to see if the plastic hooks that hold it onto the vent will hold up over time and with exposure to the sunlight. This holder does have a slight stand that holds it out from the vent a bit (which some may like as it does not constrict the air flow). I do wish it had the ability to tilt the phone to one side or the other instead of holding it in a straight forward orientation. That would facilitate better viewing from the driver or ... Does it's job, but...
I had a different brand that I loved for several years until I accidentally broke it. This model seemed to be the next best alternative. It works as it is designed and does a good job. My negative comments about it's design, though, are 1) the arms do not extend smoothly and, at times, I almost have to assist them in opening, 2) conversely, it is a bit difficult to tighten them, as well, as it isn't a smooth moving mechanism, and 3) the two bottom stands are very flimsy, small/short and with no grip. You have to get the phone exactly right and hold it in place while you tighten the arms, otherwise the phone falls right off before you can tighten the arms. Don't waste your time or money
This phone holder is a waste of time and money. It's a flimsy design that slides from side to side while driving and doesn't have a good hold on the vents. Several times while driving it would detach from the half mounted in the vent and my phone would fall. This is especially worse if you have a larger smart phone like I do. The weight of an iPhone 7 plus was too much for this holder. The phone kept constantly sliding and tilting while in the holder and at times fell off completely. Spend $20 on a real holder that will last you a long time. This didn't even last me 2 weeks.This phone holder is a waste of time and money. Overcomplicated, instable design
A great school example of an overcomplicated design. You can literally see how the features are added during the design process, instead of being thought of in the first time. The thing is unstable, and not easy to use. Also the sides block part of the screen. I have a similar holder that works with a spring and clamps in the phone. Way better than this.
