About this product

Product Information

Dear Greg, I find your idea of dialoguing about the subject of Christianity very interesting, and I'd be happy to do it. I've got enough time on my hands...You invited me to raise whatever objections come to mind, so I'll jump right in. Here's one I've wondered about a lot: how could an all-powerful and all-loving God allow the church to do so much harm to humanity for so long? Isn't this supposed to be His true church, His representation on earth'...To my mind, this alone is quite enough to prove that the church does not possess any true philosophy...Well, you wanted an objection; you've got one. I look forward to your response... Love always, Dad In Letters from a Skeptic Dr. Gregory Boyd and his father Edward Boyd "debate" many other objections to Christianity, the church, and the Bible. * Why is the world so full of suffering? * Does God know the future? * How can you believe that a man rose from the dead? * Why do you think the Bible is inspired? * Do all non-Christians go to hell? * How can I be holy and sinful at the same time? Greg Boyd initiated this correspondence with his father in the hope that his father would eventually come to know Christ. After three years, 30 letters, and numerous phone calls, Edward K. Boyd did just that. Letters from a Skeptic will help you wrestle with the rational foundation of your own faith. It will also help you know how to share that faith with the skeptics you love.

    A Unique Apologetic

Overall a good read for those who want to explore the truth of Christianity. I warn you that it has a substantial amount of profanity and curse words in it. This unusual for a book by a conservative, Christian author. I find it offensive. All in all it is a good book.

  • There Are Good Answers to Tough Questions

"If God exists and He is all-powerful, why would He allow evil to exist?...allow my mother to die?...send people to Hell?...Isn't the Bible full of contradictions?...How can you believe a man rose from the dead?...Doesn't evolution/random chance explain how we got here?" Lacking good answers to questions like these has caused many people to doubt, or decide God doesn't exist, and/or that Christianity is false. Ed Boyd was just such a person. However, his son, Greg was a professor of Theology. By letter Greg challenged his 70+ year-old dad to share with him all his objections to the Christian faith and give him a chance to answer them. Ed took the challenge, and the book shares with us the 30 or so letters that father and son exchanged. Ed's 29 objections are well-reasoned, and ...

  • Letters from a Skeptic by Dr. Greg Boyd & Edward Boyd

I had heard about this book from a friend and decided I would like to read it myself. Instead of chapters this book has a question/answer format depicted through letters between a Father and a Son. The father being the non-believer; with plenty of no-holds-barred questions for a son,(a professor of theology), who answered each with truth and honesty, in a very convincing manner. This book of questions and answers cleared up questions that I harbored over the years and just couldn't seem to get a satisfactory answer for. I just wasn't sure where to look for those answers. If you have questions; this book has answers. It is an excellent source/ reference for anyone from a non-believer to a seasoned Christian. We all have questions, and were always looking for answers. Check it out for ...

  • Learn about God in simple language

These are letters written between a father and son as they discuss really tough questions about God, Jesus, the Bible, death and dying, hell, religion, grace and others. The answers are explained in simple language, not a religious, philosophical dialogue. Each question is answered in just a few pages. This is an amazing book to share with someone who doubts the reality of God.

  • Better then new

Awesome book for anyone who has had doubts or questions reguarding God or his existence. This is a great family book that parents can share with there kids or visa versa. For the unbeliever or believer. The son who the book is about uses science math and faith to reason with the dad. Great ending to. I think every church no matter which donomination shoild have a copy of this to pass out. This book is as good as any out there to help convince or teach anybody with doubts.
