I was looking for a metal detector that would serve as a fun hobby that wouldnt brake the bank. This unit works well. I have only used it in my back yard, but I found a coin, that was nearly 12 inches deep, and plenty of other metals. The hand held wand works great too, especially after you start digging. This unit is a little on the complicated side to get specific settings, but as far as finding metals it works great.
