The Cisco SR2024 24-Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch provides nonblocking, wire-speed switching for your 10-, 100-, and 1000-Mb network clients. Use this switch to replace your current workgroup hub or switch, and you can upgrade your high-requirement workstations to full Gigabit speeds as necessary, while continuing to service other clients at their current speeds. Or build your network from the ground up, with appropriate link speeds for each user's requirements. Either way, it's perfect for graphics, multimedia, and other applications that have to move large files across the network quickly. And when you need to expand your network even further, the two mini Gigabit Interface Converter (mini-GBIC) ports let you add fiber-optic capability easily and cost-effectively.With the Cisco SR2024, you can connect your existing 10/100 Ethernet network to a Gigabit server backbone without any additional equipment. All ports have automatic medium dependent interface (MDI) and MDI crossover (MDI-X) cable detection, so you don't have to worry about the cable type. Each port independently and automatically negotiates for best speed and determines whether to run in half- or full-duplex mode. Address Learning and Aging are supported, as well as 802.3x flow control with head-of-line blocking prevention to keep your high-speed clients from bogging down in lower-speed traffic. Fast store-and-forward switching prevents damaged packets from being passed on to the network.World-famous Cisco reliability gives you peace of mind, and the rack-mount form factor integrates smoothly into your network infrastructure.     Bigger brother

    I bought the SR2024, because my SR2016 was short on ports. I was expecting the SR2024 to be wider (it is 17" v. the 11" SR2016), but I was not prepared for the extra depth of 14", whereas the SR2016 is under 10". Other than requiring changes to my network cabinet, it was a straight swap. I expect it to be an effortless performer, just like the SR2016 has been for me.

    Decent switch

    This is a decent switch for the money. However, be aware that in a home environment, you'll want to replace the cooling fans. You can find them on eBay for around $25 for two (there are lots of people selling ONE for $25 - but hold out for two). It's a fairly simple process to open the cover, and replace the fans. Otherwise, a really nice purchase!

    Awesome network switch! good value

    I bought this product because I've had good luck with cysco products before. When I received this item I plugged it in and it worked without any issuses. My only complaint is that the cooling fans are quite loud, so I removed the housing and replaced them with more quiet fans. This product has been working great for me for a few months now for home networking.

    Cisco SR2024 24 port switch

    This is excellent for small business and large home use. Easy to manage. I am surprised at the boost provide for network traffic!

    Basic Gig switch does the job

    I was looking for a basic gig switch. This one did the job. Replaced a 15-year-old 10/100 switch for under $60.
