The Singer 7422 is a very nice machine. I generally prefer Brother and Janome, but I wanted to try a Singer. It's a substantial machine, does not vibrate or move across the table. The built-in stitches are very good. Quality of stitching is excellent. Auto-tension is a great feature, and the tension can be adjusted manually if desired. It has a drop-in bobbin and uses easy-to-find class 15 plastic bobbins. One of my favorite features is the built-in overlock stitch that does not require a special presser foot. I give this 5 stars because it's all you need in a sewing machine for this price.
We bought the machine a couple of months ago and love it. It is a great sewing machine. I love the many different pattern!! The machine is great for heming! I no longer have to go to the tailor.
I bought this about a month ago, and used it to make a drape. It has already paid for itself. I was thrilled at the price and even more thrilled at the usefulness. I am new with sewing, but it is proving to be a great skill to have. Next I am making a new shower curtain. This machine has a lot of gadgets I have yet to use, so I think as I get better at sewing this machine will grow with me.
Works great early use
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
I have not sewn for 25 years so when I decided to pick it up again, I wanted a Singer because of their reputation. I was surprised that the material is mostly plastic today but know that the mechanism in the machine is backed by Singer and it will give me years of fun.
