Why are these rated so highly?
These are astonishingly crude products: essentially fingers of plastic with a (metal?) strip bonded to it in a rebated section at one end. This metal piece has one of five grades of diamond glued to it. I think they work OK but (as they are individually quite expensive) I’ve only rated it as 3 stars as the finish of the plastic pieces is crude, and in one case the metal strip was not positioned correctly in the rebate and the inner end was 1/2mm over the body of the plastic. This meant the strip was not flat and as it was impossible to unglue the strip I had to use a Dremel to remove the plastic below this part and vice the strip flat. At £6 a pop I should not have to do this. I don’t recommend buying these unless you need just one of a specific grade, and in that case look for a better quality alternative. I’m afraid the first impression is one of poor QC. The photos give an indication of the lazy manufacturing expectations and hence low acceptable quality which frankly disappoints.

Good for all the hard places.
I bought these to solve the problems of sharpening the hard to reach places that you can't use your diamond plate or water stones. These are great for sharpening bits used with a brace in wood working. Did you know that the Brace and Bit was the very first cordless drill, and they still work great. Bring the,stone to the tool
Sometimes it's easy to bring the tool (chisel, planeblade) to the stone. Other times it's easier to bring to stone to the tool (like the big slick I was sharpening today.)
