About this product

Product Information

In Star Wars: Empire at War -- Forces of Corruption a new faction has emerged with the ability to exploit and corrupt weakened planets left defenseless while the Empire recovered from the destruction of the Death Star. The Zann Consortium, named after Tyler Zann, leader of the underground organization, has the ability to send saboteurs and heroes like Bossk or IG-88 to planets from the original game, and 13 more environments added with the expansion. These undercover terrorists can slowly corrupt Empire- and Rebel-oriented planets such as Kamino, Bespin, and Mustafar, to steal cash and resources directly from the planet's revenue. However, the Zann Consortium's ultimate goal is to commandeer the Super Star Destroyer, a behemoth of a galactic cruiser that is 11 times the size of the Death Star, and packs the destructive ability equal to the blast that turned Alderaan into space dust.

To make it anywhere near the Super Star Destroyer, you have to take over Empire-influenced planets and cut off all supply and production outlets to effectively weaken and overtake the world. Once a planet is debilitated, you can begin deploying ground units and claim a new territory in the name of Zann. Sending in saboteurs to impair a planet opens eight options of corruption that will affect your progress in a variety of ways. In an attempt to add a risk-and-reward element to the game, selecting kidnapping, intimidation, or space piracy will trigger one of 30 tactical combat missions with such objectives as racketeering, bribing officials, or making your way to the governor for a little pain-induced persuasion.

When and if you do manage to corrupt a world, rewards and special items are offered including ship designs. You may play as each of the three factions, and each side has its own group of heroes, transport vehicles, and units. For example, the Empire cruises the Juggernaut through space, while the Zann Consortium has to rely on the black market for all their transport, technological, and combat needs.

  • Could've been better, but for an expansion well done.

Originally I bought it because I enjoyed Empire at War, and saw it as an extension of the first. It became evident however that once you've added this expansion you now have an entirely different game. To illustrate what I mean let me tell you my like/dislikes: Likes: The single player campaign was great, the story was deep and involved and many of everyone’s favorite Star Wars elements were added in seamlessly. The addition of a "pathfinder" slot on fleets has been good (the unit placed in this slot will be the first one into any given battle, allowing you to choose which units come in next). Orbital bombardment is tailored to each factions' character (such as in the case of the Rebels-ion attack only, because the Rebels wouldn't choose to devastate entire worlds with bombardment). I ...

  • Who the heck is Tyber Zann?

Not too much of a Star Wars junkie beyond the original series and the latest prequels, I have no idea who Tyber Zann is. Forces of Corruption attracted me primarily because it allows more toys for the Empire and for the Rebels. Darth Vader’s massive super star destroyer Executor is here, filling up almost the entire view screen when it appears. The Death Star II visually half complete, is great in tactical battles as well as eliminating pesky Rebel and Zann Consortium planets. There are many new units for all sides as well as 13 new planets. If you enjoyed Empire at War you’ll be pleased with this expansion and its possibilities for new scenarios.

  • Forces of Corruption

I love almost everything about this product. The online multiplayer is extremely fun, the skirmish is awesome, and the campaign mode was so fun I played it 4 times. My only complaint is, if you don't have a good graphics card the land battles can get kind of slow and annoying at times. You can easily scolve this problem by either upgrading your graphics card (reccomended) or buying some RAM (Resident Area Memory) Not all RAM works in all computers so be sure to find out just what kind of RAM your computer can handle. If you have a good enough graphics card to play the game on a high setting, the character and spaceship models are pretty impressive. I especially enjoy space battles because the Zann Consortium ships and weapons fire looks so cool! This is the second copy of the game that ...
