Great accessory for compact Video Camera
Fits well on top of the camera. So far, sensitivity is so good it has to be turned down 10 db. Picks up sound without noise from the camera zoom. Great mic!

Disappointing incurable audio hiss. Pics up silence and converts it to noise.
Constant hiss in the audio no matter what I do. I watched videos, read articles, and contacted support. I elected to return the mic because no matter what I did the hiss persisted. It pics up noise it shouldn't I just want to hear my voice and then silence. My voice sounds decent but there's always a constant hiss underneath. I thought RODE was this amazing brand (it's literally the only one I know by name.) I expected excellence and got "Meh."Constant hiss in the audio no matter what I do. I watched videos, read articles, and contacted support. I elected to return the mic because no matter what I did the hiss persisted. small, yet very powerful!
this was a gift for my son, and he absolutely loves it! he said it's by far the best bang for your buck microphone. he researched different ones, and chose the rode himself. what he liked most, was the adjustment on the back, for near, far, and focused pinpointed sound. he's used it several times since he got it and just raves about the quality of sound each time.

Rode VideomicPro+ the best on camera mic I have used
The primary use I have for the Rode VideomicPro+ is in conjunction with filming with the Panasonic GH4 and Atomos Ninja Flame in an Axler Cage rig and on a Moza Aircross gimbal rig. I record 4K or 1080-60p 4:2:2 Avid DNxHD 10 bit in the Ninja Flame along with audio from the camera via HDMI as a secondary stereo audio. Then I feed dual channel mono from the Rode VideomicPor+ directly into the Ninja Flame, with 1 channel boosted and the other channel a safety. Works really well.
