Tidy PoE wireless LAN
Comes with 4 ariels, 2 channels and multiple wireless lan "networks", channels and can work over different VLANs This can work as a stand alone unit, or it appears it can be linked back to a central control unit too. Ethernet 1 is the incoming PoE connection and LAN connection and Ethernet 2 can act as a pass through connection. Setup took a few minutes extra, as I didn't follow the instructions and the device got an IP on my network. Keeping it off the network so it didn't get a DHCP address and I was up and running in 20 mins. My PoE connections are all 100 Full and this is what it reported as. I can't speak for any 1GHz connections. DON'T use this if you've a traditional home network, unless you have a PoE injection adapter or a PoE switch. If you don't know what PoE stands for, ... Quality kit. Worked for me.
I installed this AP in an outbuilding and it now provides backhaul for our wireless CCTV for our animals. It is connected to my Vodafone router and I have segregated it from my main network by setting the AP to use VLAN 10 on the Vodafone router (ie the wifi2 192.168.5.X range. All my other IoT and less trusted devices are on same subnet. I power it from a £30 5-port POE switch. Alternative you could buy a 5v power adapter or single POE injector. It is a quality product, aluminium casing and interchangeable antennas. You could fit special antennas to create a long distance wireless bridge. However it is at or close to end of life - I do not believe HP will provide any more software updates even for security fixes. The good news is that I signed up to HP support and it allowed me to ... Difficult to set up, poor performance
Had to use a very old browser to be able to configure this for use. Performance then in the kbs not mbs when finally got it working. Binned and bought a netgear unit that works a dream
