    Great Purchase but was disapointed in seeing one of the traps having a bent stake. Being of cast aluminum the only way this happened was prior to shipping since the packaging had no indication of impact or damage, where the other trap also purchased was in good quality condition. They worked like a charm and hope to catch the remaining raccoons that are using my company's Towing/ Salvage yard as a home soon. Like to have given 5 stars guys, but the damage trap is inexcusable.

    They claim it is dog proof but is it cat proof? Does it kill the animal? Looks too small for live trap and that will not do. This lacks information in the description. I ordered one but realized that it would harm any animal (including cats) that got trapped. We will see if they honor my cancellation request. I would ask the seller to give more information so buyer can make an educated decision on whether this would work for their needs and not just have to guess.

      One hell of a coon trap!

      I have been using live traps with mixed results. I purchased this Feather Light dog proof Raccoon trap and it is great !!! I use sardines for a bait and that really draws the coons. I live in a woods and this spring we planted at the edge of the woods a large Hydrangea bush, a Knockout Rose, Clematis and an Azalea plant. The coons or a coon kept digging them up every night. I caught a few with a live trap and then saw the Feather Light dog proof trap on eBay and purchased one. I have caught 16 coons in less than a month. NO MORE PLANT DESTRUCTION !!!!!! I tell everyone about the dog proof traps.

      more detail needed

      first time buyer. would have been nice to know you needed a tool to cock it. takes both hands and im a big guy to squeeze springs down. would have needed a 3rd hand to set trap. watched a video from another site that showed a cocking tool. ended up using a big flat bladed screw driver and levered it down and set it. the length of chain could have been longer also. ended up tying piece of rope thru chain and around a deck 4x4 to hold it in place. other then that worked like a charm. would have gave 5 stars if more detail would have been given on product and that a cocking tool is required or optional.

      Best bang for the buck

      I've been trying out different brands of Dog Proofs and I've become fond of this one. It's as simple and reliable as the Duke, costs about the same, and is American made. Hard to set with thick gloves on, but most DPs are, except the FB1. But then, I set with just my hand, have never bothered to get the setting tool. I'm still experimenting with the other brands, but as it stands right now I plan to get a few more of these and see how they hold up long term. Check with me in a few years. :)

      To Catch a Raccoon

      Received the trap on August 3rd, 2017. Placed trap according to a video on youtube at 7pm , Florida time. Checked trap at 10pm, and had Mr Koon, caught. Could not catch him in a Have-a-Hart trap. Bingo. This trap rates this trap maker Five Star Quality. Highly reccomended
