Hi, I have a 10 year old Sony TV. It only has one HDMI port. So each time I wanted to use the Blu-Ray player I would have to unplug the Cable TV Box and plug in the Blu-Ray player. This has gotten old real fast. So I found this switch box. It came in a week, I plugged it in, only took 30 seconds, no tools. Fired right up and works like a charm. So now I only have to push the button on the switch box to change between my 2 HDMI devices. I was also pleased at the quality of the switch box as well as how cheap it was to buy. 1x2 splitter switches but does not split
device switches but does not split. i wanted a device that took a single input and split it into two identical output signals [ie, replicates]. this device does not do that. what it does do is switch a single source into one of two outputs, the second output will just be null.

Bi-directional HDMI switch box
This is a neat little switcher. It has the extra utility of being by directional - most are not. So, you can use it to switch between two sources into a display or one source between two displays, which is how i use it. My only gripe is that the blue LEDs that identify which channel is on, are much too bright, enough to light up a dark room - not uncommon since designers apparently haven't noticed their increase in efficiency and reduced the current to compensate.This is a neat little switcher. The splitter has 3 switchable hdmi inputs and one output. It is supplied with a tiny remote and a tiny USB power cord without a power supply unit. The HDMI ports are on one side of the case. The opposite side of the case contains extremely bright control lights for power on and the selected HDMI source, as well as a little push button to switch between the sources and a power port. The tiny remote control switches between the sources. The unit also senses a new signal on one of the cables if you turn on your DVD player etc. and it switches automatically to this source if nothing else is activated. All in all, it is a useful unit if you want to extend the life of an older home cinema receiver with rca inputs. Cons: In my view it would have been better if the power port were at the side ... It does work, but ...
I like the the case is metal and the button is big. The indication light is nice too. It does work, but while powering from hdmi is convenient, some devices don't like providing power from hdmi output. For example, when I use it on my Nintendo wii (wii2hdmi), it triggers wii's power surge protection and wii would not power on again unless I do a power reset. I had to open up the hdmi cable and cut off the 5 V power line to make it work normally, except that it has to be powered from the other hdmi input (in my case, my labtop).I like the the case is metal and the button is big.
