I would recommend to anyone replacing a latch to not remove the top half of the latch if you don't have to.Usually the bottom portion is what needs replacing (see my first picture), It was really hard to hammer down the split-rivets in the top's small cavity. So don't remove the top half of the latch if you do not need to,
