Nintendo's long-running and hugely popular RPG series returns to DS gamers with an emphasis on character customization and multiplayer co-op in Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies. Players can create their own unique hero by choosing from more than 1,000 options, including race, vocation, clothing, armor, weapons, and special abilities. Once a character has been created, gamers head off on a quest to track down fallen angels who have been transformed into monsters by the unintended consequences of wish-granting fruit from a magical tree. Dragon Quest IX has done away with random battles, but players must still engage in turn-based combat frequently, with the first-person planning stage followed by a third-person action stage. In addition to gaining new armor and weaponry from fallen enemies, gamers can also bulk up their inventory by creating new items through alchemy. Sentinels of the Starry Skies offers an expansive number of side quests designed to help players earn items and experience points, and the four-player local co-op mode lets friends wirelessly band together to slice through monsters and explore dungeons.

    Great Co-op RPG

    Dragon Quest IX is one of the only true co-op RPGs out there. The amount of freedom given to clients is spectacular, since they can actually walk around and enter combat themselves. Only gripe is that they can't progress the story. Customization is another strong point. While there isn't much you can do in the character creator, all equipment adds a visual to the character, so you could dress up as a slime of you wanted. Add this with a great class system, and it more than makes up for the creator. Main quest ends at about lvl. 50. From there on out, players can choose to do postgame quests and dungeon maps (Dungeon maps are mostly randomly generated, meaning there are a ton). There are also "legacy bosses" which are from previous games in the series. With plenty of postgame content, ...

    Great Game

    Really engaging story. The fact that all the armour and weapons you find are fulky modelled and appear on yiur character makes it super fun to mix and match. Story is more episodic than overarching, but it uses a lot of humour and intelligent writing. It's easily got 50 hour out of the main story, and there's loads of post game content for those that want it. Good stuff.

    One of the best rpg ever made ..whether your a fan of dragon quest or not. Or whether you play the other series, it doesnt matter. The games has its own unique story. The graphics is also good. A must have for every rpg fans out there.
