Insightful, comprehensible, inspiring.
Life is not a static condition. Although some seem to skate through it with ease, for others the passage can be an endless unsolved mystery or an overwhelming challenge. Those of us who have had our trajectory badly warped and manipulated by toxic people, crave the ability to comprehend those dynamics so it will never happen again. We rightfully wonder how on earth our honesty and our every well-meaning, caring effort somehow ended up being turned around to hurt us. And we need answers so we can continue to move forward the rest of our way feeling whole and secure. For me, this "emotionally abusive toxic relationship" happened very very long ago, but after having miraculously survived years of isolation, and subsequent treatment for depression, and having no way to counter accusations by my partner of imagining things that "did not happen", finally, seeing no other viable alternative, in desperation I ended the relationship - and, miraculously, began to recover my footing on my own path immediately. But it was not until the clear and simple and definitive logical insight and perspective offered in this book by Jackson MacKenzie that I FINALLY fully comprehended that the "error of judgment" in choosing this man and endlessly believing in him to my own detriment (and near destruction) was not mine. This is one of the best books I read on the subject. What one factor made it stand out from the rest is that it is gender nuetral.
