Put the item in a plastic bag and put a piece of cardboard on each side and write "Do Not Bend" on the package. This keeps the mailman from bending it. This book is 101 years old and got beat up on the trip. It was wrapped in paper and shipped in a padded bag. It got bent and slightly damaged.
