Used AT&T SL82318 Answering Machine with expansion
Used AT&T SL82318 answering machine arrived on time, clean and compactly packed. I have ahd several of these machines and they are quite good serviceable systems with only one fault - the handset batteries. Batteries last from several months to several years and replacements seem to be spotty in quality. The symptoms of battery failure.are fairly predictable but not mentioned in the owners manual. Battery failure is probably the reason for these systems to be pulled from service or replaced well before their useful life is over. The handsets use a pair of AAA size NiMH cells connected in series. Failure of one or both of these batteries will stop the handset from working properly. Complete failure to charge will set a battery problem display . Unfortunately this is not the most common problem. The most common problem is the battery charging to the correct voltage but not being able to supply enough current to run the handset! When new these batteries need to be rated at least 500mAH but 750mAH or more is better.. The bad battery symptoms are bad static in the handset and random disconnects. These batteries self-discharge in storage so spare batteries over a year old may not work when needed without several hours of charging. I installed fresh batteries in the handsets and everything worked perfectly after charging. How long? Depends on the batteries!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Charging base is the exact replacement I was looking for. Unit came with a few scratches, but it was not advertised as brand new. Base works fine.
