"Debbie Macomber is a master of the bucolic small town setting. Promise is everyone's fantasy of small-town America... Macomber has made the gentle small town romance her specialty and she is good at what she does... Those who have already read her other books, particularly the Heart of Texas series, will relish the chance to revisit your old friends."--All About Romance on PROMISE, TEXAS "Macomber is a master storyteller." -Times Record News "Bestselling Macomber...sure has a way of pleasing readers." -Booklist "Popular romance writer Debbie Macomber has a gift for evoking the emotions that are at the heart of the genre's popularity." -Publishers Weekly "With first-class author Debbie Macomber, it's quite simple-she gives readers an exceptional, unforgettable story every time, and her books are always, always keepers!" -ReadertoReader.com "It's clear that Debbie Macomber cares deeply about her fully realized characters and their families, friends and loves, along with their hopes and dreams. She also makes her readers care about them." -Bookreporter.com Due to popular demand, veteran author Debbie Macomber returns once more to Promise, the fictional town in the Texas hill country, site of Macomber's celebrated Heart of Texas series. Characters who have become like readers' old friends appear again, along with new faces including Annie Applegate, Gordon Pawling, and Nessa Boyd, who find romance when they least expect it. Love, intrigue, and tragedy are well known to the citizens of small-town Texas, where the past, present, and future collide as they are wont do in all our lives. Perhaps it is here that the secret of Macomber's distinction lies; she elucidates so clearly the extraordinary nature of the most ordinary lives. Readers will hope that Promise, Texas, continues to experience a population explosion, thanks to Macomber's fluent crafting and her understanding of the human heart. --Alison Trinkle (Amazon.com), Due to popular demand, veteran author Debbie Macomber returns once more to Promise, the fictional town in the Texas hill country, site of Macomber's celebrated Heart of Texas series. Synopsis
In the heart of Texas, people know what really matters--family, friends, community. And they know that love gives meaning to every day of their lives... Some of the people in Promise are from old ranching families like the Westons and Pattersons--folks who arrived in the Hill Country more than a century ago. And then there are newcomers like Annie Applegate, who opens a bookstore in town. Some might say Annie does things backward. She marries a widowed veterinarian for the sake of his kids...and discovers that marriage can lead to love. In Promise, everyone's life is a story! The people here, like people everywhere, experience tragedies as well as triumphs, sorrow as well as joy. This town, like towns everywhere, has its share of secrets. But whether times are good or bad, you're never alone in a place like Promise. And as Annie Applegate knows, that makes all the difference., In the heart of Texas, people know what really matters--family, friends, community. 1st edition, 2nd impression edition of "The Drunken Forest," by Gerald Durrell is as pictured & described. Arrived quickly & safely! Got a great deal on it! Great communication! The book, with a protective mylar cover, was wrapped in bubble wrap, then wrapped in sturdy cardboard, then placed in a rugged bubble mailer! Fort Knox in a mailer! So hard to get an early edition of this classic! So happy to add to my growing collection of nature & science books! Thank you! !!Seller Highly Recommended!!

This delivery was earliest date! Condition, value, quality - all as described. (My mistake was not requiring the publishing date to be 1958. This was 1977.) This IS a Viking Portable Library copy of Dante's Divine Comedy in English, translated by Laurence Binyon, but it is with a cover DIFFERENT from what was shown. The tracking number was listed as from "UPS", but should have been listed as from "USPS." Contact with this seller alleviated tracking issues. I recommend this seller! Thank you!
