When fully integrated into a computer, the specifications of the Samsung Spinpoint M5 HM160HC 160GB drives offer an average seek time of 12 milliseconds and an average latency of only 5.6 milliseconds. It isn't hard to install this type of internal HDD in your computer; simply connect the hard disk drive to your personal computer via the Parallel ATA IDE interface. Once the Samsung Spinpoint M5 HM160HC 160GB hard drive is connected to one’s personal computer via the 44-pin IDC interface, users are able to immediately use this device however they see fit on their desktop or laptop computer.More specifically, this hard disk offers up to 103MB/s and up to 100MB/s of external transfer rate performance.     These hard drives are probably EOL (end ...

    These hard drives are probably EOL (end of life). The SMART data was scrubbed so I cannot verify the number of startups and total hours on each. That's like turning back the odometer on an automobile before selling it. The connector pins on the ends are slightly bent so they have definitely been mounted. Scratches and marks are visible on the mounting points. Oh, and the drives run hot, around 55-59 degrees. That's what old drives do. The electrostatic pouches are not SAMUNG.

    Have not tested the product, however it seems good, came as described, and the packaging was very good. Looks like it is factory condition. Very good. Will add more once I have used it. *Update* 10/22/19 - Have used for a few months with an ide to usb 2.0 converter, hooked up to an xbox 360 as a primary hard drive. Works great! Fast download, upload, spin time, and is quiet!

    Good upgrade for an older PC

    been using these Samsung Hard Drives for awhile, and i must say they are reliable. but I'm surprised that this hard drive for it's 160 GB capacity at 5400 rpm is super fast and quiet, a good upgrade if you have and older IDE port PC with decent memory. Pros. fast and quiet Cons. none ( any hard drive can fail without warning, just remember to always back up on a separate drive)

    Good 2.5" SATA replacment drive.

    Good cheap replacement for the failed hard disk in the old laptop I use for music. Easy to replace, just as fast as the old disk, big enough for windows and some files. After installing it worked like new!
