Fixed Our Ugly Old Light Fixture!
We have a 1996 Hunter Fan that works awesome - except the ugly old all metal outdated light fixture had to go! Didn't want to replace the whole thing so took a chance on this one. We had to improvise because the old Hunter light base inside fan unit is not open like the newer Hunter models that were made after 2000. We removed the old light, removed the top 1/2 of this new light base, and set the bottom 1/2 of the new light base up into the Hunter unit. It fit perfectly inside as its 3.5" wide. All the new light holes did not match up with our Hunter holes so we just placed one matching hole between the two units and marked the other 2 anchor holes on the new light base. We then drilled 2 new holes and it worked great! Was easy to do. We did not need a bottom cover plate for this method. If you have a Hunter Fan with a center hole base cover plate - this light should be easy to install on that. As far as the wiring goes, you just need to attach the black wire to black and the white wire to white and cap them. Easy!
