The ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 is a socket LGA 1155 motherboard designed for use with PCs that support an ATX form factor. This ASRock motherboard features HyperPerformance for optimized game responsiveness. With this feature, the machine removes redundant rendering tasks within the graphics pipeline, delivering a boost in responsiveness particularly for first-person shooter video games. The ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 can support an Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors with Turbo Boost Technology 2.0. It features the Intel Z77 chipset. This socket LGA 1155 motherboard has four memory card slots and can hold a maximum of 32 GB of DDR3 memory with a speed of 2800 MHz. The hard drive connectivity is available via four SATA 3 Gbps and four SATA 6 Gbps ports with support for RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 configurations. This ASRock motherboard has two PCI, two PCI Express x1, and two PCI Express 3.0 x16 expansion slots. The audio is handled by the integrated Realtek ALC898 audio chipset. The graphics runs through an integrated chipset, but this model also supports a stand-alone x16 graphics card. No drivers included, not all USB ports working, and 8GB RAM included instead of 16GB
This is a great motherboard, it's just been such a hassle for me to get working. Right off the bat, make sure you know how to reset the CMOS with a very conveniently placed button on the back panel. That was the easiest way for me to get my computer to start again, after it started fine without doing that the first two or three times I started it (though I did have to wait about 5 minutes each time before it would turn on). This is most likely due to having a dead CR2032 battery, which I've ordered new ones since they are very cheap. This item shipped without any driver CD or back panel cover, so that's a little disappointing but fine I guess. The default network driver might not always work properly as I read, but after a few restarts it did eventually work. Otherwise, this is a very nice board for a very nice price, and some nice extras as well (though I was only sent 8GB of RAM instead of the advertised 16GB). EDIT: two of the four USB 3.0 ports simply don't work, so unfortunately this board is not fully functional as advertised. Though that is minor, it's worth noting. Maybe if I didn't have to spend so long getting it to work I wouldn't mind as much, but this board having USB 3.0 is the main reason I ordered it, so I'm a bit peeved about those ports not working. This issue along with having 8GB RAM sent to me instead of 16GB are the reasons why I give this a low review.
