This book is completely inappropriate in its content. While the author wrote it in simple consonant-vowel-consonant words, which is fine, but the main character is a black woman, whom the author refers to as a “gal”. This is not a word we have used to refer to any female anymore, but historically it was a term to demoralize a black woman, much like calling a black man “boy”. Furthermore the character wants to have a lot of men, which is just weird. Why would anyone write such a story to teach non literate people? Come to America and sleep around? I am a high school teacher and I bought this for my newly arrived students who have had little or no education who are arriving in droves. There is very little material for older non literate people. For me, this book is garbage. I wouldn’t use it for adults, much less teenagers.
